Pergola Rug

So I told you a little while ago about the rug I was working on for our pergola....well, it's done!!!  It took a LOT longer than I anticipated but most ideas from Pinterest do. Have you ever done something you saw on Pinterest that ended up being easier than it looked?  I know I haven't LOL.

The final tally for my 10' x 14' rug was $70.

I bought two of these rugs for $18 each.  You know those cheap thin blue grey indoor outdoor rugs?

Well here's the finished result... It took two gallons of brown paint ($12 each) and a quart of blue paint ($9). I did use some left over paint I had for two of the stripes to match some fabric I have picked out.  I love the end result and can't wait to have a BBQ!

Busy Busy Busy

Hello All:

So my husband had surgery and it's been a lot harder to take care of Aubrey without his help in the evenings.  But we are making it and it is nice to have him home during the day.  Someone to talk to that doesn't require constant smiling and baby talk :).

Anyways, check out our new pergola and fire pit area!  My husband and I have been busy.  I stained and he built! I'm so proud so I thought I would share.  The "curtains" are actually outdoor table cloths I found at Hobby Lobby in their summer clearance.  An oblong table cloth just happens to be 9' long! It required no sewing from me which is awesome because I am not very good at it.

We still have a lot to do but it is coming together. Notice I have chairs but no table :) I'm still putting it together in the garage.  I also have a lot of planters to fill with lots of color and pillows to make for the chairs.

I wanted a big rug to bring in some color and tie in the curtains because I didn't really have a choice with the blue.  I also wanted to spend as little as possible.  I saw on Pinterest (yes, Pinterest) the idea of painting one of those cheapo outdoor rugs from the home improvement stores so I gave it a shot.  I bought two for $18 each.  They were an ugly utility grey color and didn't go very well with my table and chairs.  I decided what the heck, let's attempt to paint these things!  It took two gallons of brown paint to change the color and I still need to paint the chevron pattern on them but I'm loving it already.  I used duct tape on the back to tape them together and make one big 10' x 14' rug.  I can't wait to show you pics!

Light Up Diner Sign

So I found this sign pinned on Pinterest and I thought that I think this can be inexpensively recreated.  I'm going to attempt it but I'm not sure I want it to say Eat or that I even want it in the kitchen...Any thoughts on locations and words? If I find something I like I will make it and post a tutorial!

My camera dilemma

So after setting everything up and waiting for Aubrey to fall asleep, I took some pics of everything I've been working on...then I realized that I don't have a spot on my computer to plug in the memory card!  So after that today I decided it's time to buckle down and get a camera!  I decided to go with a digital SLR instead of a basic point and shoot camera.  I have some knowledge of them from high school (hope i can remember).  I found a used one at Creve Coure Camera and I get to pick it up tomorrow! So excited! I'm sorry about the pics today but hopefully by the end of the week! Can't wait to get your feedback!

Hobby Lobby Sale Cycle

So now that I've decided I'm going to take the plunge and start selling my "projects" as my husband likes to call them, I am always looking for the best deals on supplies.  My absolute favorite place to shop is Hobby Lobby (and Home Goods, but that's a whole other story :)).  I never pay full price for anything at Hobby Lobby because of their coupon and great sales.  Did you know they will take the 40% off coupon on your phone?  Save the paper!  Anyways....I couldn't find a sale cycle schedule online anywhere so I've decided to figure it out and I'll post when I think I've got it figured out!
I go to Target on Monday mornings if I'm looking for baby things or clothes for my Little Lady Bean.  Baby Markdown Mondays.  Housewares, a favorite at Target, on Thursdays! These are the things I want to know about Hobby Lobby!  It may take a month or two but I can't wait to find out when tulle is 77 cents a yard again!
Supplies, Supplies...I'm also looking for beads for necklaces.  I was going to make my own polymer beads (which I still may do in the future) but I can barely find time to do the laundry let alone make beads?!?! Those thoughts are exactly how unfinished projects start at my house :)  I know I'll find a great supplier for beads eventually but if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them!

Supplies Supplies Supplies

I ordered more supplies today!  So excited to keep creating.   I have so many ideas flowing through my mind.  I've gotta jot them down.  I'm thinking glamour and funky.  I'm in the middle of a wild purple tutu and purple and white polka dot and animal print headband.  I'm hoping I can find the right purple beads to make a matching chunky necklace for the set.  I've also started a white and silver newborn set.  I'm thinking wings and necklace or wings and tutu (if it isn't too much).  Can't wait to show you my completed work.  Back to it, Aubrey's naps never last very long! :)  Find me on facebook, facebook.com/beansclosetprops
